Methods of calibration of tanks

The tank is mounted on load cells. In this case, the measurement result is the mass of the substance specified in kilograms or tons. If the customer has a technical possibility to use this method of measurement, we can help you with this task. But it is not always possible.

The second method is volume determination

If you know the volume and the density of the substance, you can calculate its mass. Since the density of the substance depends on the temperature and the volume of the tank is not stable when the temperature changes (due to thermal expansion of the metal walls of the tank), this method is less accurate. But it is more common for several reasons. For example, the tank of 50 cubic meters and more is almost impossible to weigh with load cells. But also the tanks of smaller capacity are not always possible to weigh using load cells. Therefore, at the moment the volumetric method of determining the amount of the substance is very common and very often is the only possible.

The essence of the method is that the substance storage tank is pre-calibrated. Calibration of tanks can be carried out by several methods. And the most modern and precise method is the calibration of the tank with a high-precision 3d laser scanner. Based on the data obtained is created 3d model of the tank and determines its capacity. The result of calibration of the tank is calibration table of the tank at different levels of filling. It is this modern and highly accurate method of obtaining calibration tables of tanks we use.
